چکیده

Background Focal myocardial injury is an important diagnostic feature of myocarditis and is typically assessed by cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) on late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) images. T1 mapping, T2 mapping, and extracellular volume (ECV) imaging are novel techniques which potentially improve the diagnostic value of CMR in myocarditis. This study evaluated the potential of T1 and T2 mapping CMR to assess focal myocardial lesions in myocarditis.

Identification of patients with myocarditis by cardiovascular magnetic resonance: T1- and T2-mapping are superior compared to conventional semi-quantitative techniques

Background Current semi-quantitative cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) techniques are of limited diagnostic value in patients with suspected myocarditis. T1and T2-mapping CMR are promising novel quantitative approaches to assess myocardial injury. This study evaluated the performance of T1 and T2 mapping CMR to identify patients with myocarditis in comparison with conventional CMR techniq...

Quantification of acute myocardial injury by ShMOLLI T1-Mapping, T2-weighted and late gadolinium imaging in patients presenting with chest pain, positive troponins and non-obstructive coronary arteries

Methods 16 patients (8 men, mean age 51±16 years) with acute chest pain, Troponin I >1.0 ug/L and non-obstructive coronary arteries underwent 1.5T CMR imaging within 7 days of presentation (median 3 days). CMR protocol included Shortened Modified Look-Locker inversion recovery (ShMOLLI) for T1-mapping, T2-STIR and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) imaging. Regional wall motion was assessed with...

Native T1-mapping detects the location, extent and patterns of acute myocarditis without the need for gadolinium contrast agents

BACKGROUND Acute myocarditis can be diagnosed on cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) using multiple techniques, including late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) imaging, which requires contrast administration. Native T1-mapping is significantly more sensitive than LGE and conventional T2-weighted (T2W) imaging in detecting myocarditis. The aims of this study were to demonstrate how to display th...

Myocardial T2 mapping for improved detection of inflammatory myocardial involvement in acute and chronic myocarditis

Background Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) increasingly adds to clinical conformation of the diagnosis in patients with suspected myocarditis. The proposed Lake Louise Consensus Criteria ("any-two” approach) can separate from chronic forms of myocardial inflammation. However, both global enhancement ratio (GRE) and T2-weighted imaging are underutilized, due to poor reproducibility and high sus...

Performance of t1 and t2 mapping cardiovascular magnetic resonance to detect active myocarditis in patients with recent-onset heart failure.

BACKGROUND This study evaluated the performance of novel quantitative T1 and T2 mapping cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) techniques to identify active myocarditis in patients with recent-onset heart failure. METHODS AND RESULTS Thirty-one consecutive patients with recent-onset heart failure, reduced left ventricular function and clinically suspected myocarditis underwent endomyocardial...
